BOARD POSITIONS
A short description of each position is below
(Some descriptions have been taken from the Pony Bluebook)
| PRESIDENT: The League President will preside at meetings and also chair meetings of the Board
of Directors or Executive Committee, supervise the functions of the various committees, and, in general,
see that the rules policies and principles of PONY are carried out. |
| VICE PRESIDENT: The Vice President presides in the absence of the president, is an ex-officio member
of all committees and carries out such other duties and assignments as may be delegated to him. |
| SECRETARY: The Secretary records the minutes of meetings and handles league correspondence, including
the filing of the Membership Application and other forms. |
| TREASURER: The Treasurer is charged with the collection and disbursement of league funds, keeps financial records, compiles reports on those records and prepares the league budget. |
PLAYER AGENT: As important as any league officer is the Player Agent. The responsibility of this individual is to maintain, insofar as it is legal and possible, a balance of strength among the teams of the league. The Player Agent must also constantly remind everyone connected with the program that the welfare of the players and of the league as a community project are paramount rather than a single manager or team with designs only upon winning. The player agent should be chosen with much care, after thorough consideration of ability to do the job and for impartiality and reputation for fairness, for action without favor in dealing both with adult leaders and participants. With the cooperation of other league officers, or assistants, it is the duty of the Player Agent to conduct registration of player candidates and to arrange for and supervise the tryout sessions. The Player Agent shall supervise the distribution of players among teams, under whatever system the league uses, and shall maintain the player pool, a list of eligible player candidates who have not been selected for teams but who are available to replace players who may move, be injured or otherwise leave the program during the season. |
| SCHEDULER: Schedules all games and practice games for the League, including inter-locking and rescheduled games due to rainouts or postponement. Communicates with the City as needed. |
| HEAD UMPIRE: Schedules and ensures that base and plate umpires are supplied for the Pinto through Bronco Divisions. Conducts umpire clinics and is responsible for compiling umpire timecards for payment. |
| HEAD SCOREKEEPER: Conducts scorekeepers clinic(s). Maintains scorebooks and works with Division Scorekeepers to ensure proper scorekeeping and reporting of stats to the local newspaper. |
PUBLICITY: Is responsible for all publicity of League events, including sign-ups, school fliers, meetings and special events through the newspaper, radio or other means of communication to the public. |
| REGISTRAR: Responsible for all League registrations. Coordinates registration booth and maintains database of registered players. |
| EQUIPMENT MANAGER: Orders and maintains all equipment and supplies for the League, such as balls, first aid kits and line-up cards. Works with uniform companies to outfit all players during the regular season and all-stars. Distributes and collects all equipment from managers. Maintains inventory of usable equipment and replaces worn or damaged equipment. |
| FIELD DIRECTOR: Ensures that all game fields are prepped and ready for play for the regular and post season. |
| SPONSOR DIRECTOR: Seeks and provides sponsors for each team for the regular season. Responsible for submitting sponsor information to the appropriate persons for signs, banners and uniforms, etc. Invites and hosts sponsors at the League Opening Day Ceremony, or any other event where sponsors are recognized. Distributes sponsor appreciation plaques at the end of the season. |
| LEAGUE TEAM MOM / PARENT: A vital part of a successful league. All correspondence to the League from the Board flows through the League Team Mom. For more information, Click Here. |
| AUXILIARY DIRECTOR: The Auxiliary Director is responsible for the undertaking of Fundraising for the league. Coordinates League Fundraisers such as the Spaghetti Dinner, Crab Feed, and Cookie Dough. |
| SNACK BAR COORDINATOR: Manages the Snack Bar by ensuring that it is staffed and supplied for the regular and post season. Is responsible for all aspects of operation, which includes knowledge of health and safety regulations pertaining to food service. Works with city personnel and outside vendors as needed. Maintains a list of snack bar inventory of League's equipment and supplies. Responsible for getting the nightly deposit to the Treasurer. |
